Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 10 August 2026
1. Who these terms are between
These terms are between The Hoopers Academy ABN 95 916 450 268 and the person booking a session. Where a player is under 18, the parent or guardian booking accepts these terms on their behalf.
2. Booking and payment
- Sessions are booked one at a time. There is no joining fee and no term contract.
- Prices are confirmed when you book. All prices are in Australian dollars.
- Payment is due before the session. A booking is confirmed once payment has been received, and a session that has not been paid for is not a confirmed booking.
- We will give you the payment details when you book.
3. Cancelling or rescheduling
- With more than 24 hours' notice: you can cancel or move a session at no cost. If you have already paid, you can have a refund or a credit, whichever you prefer.
- Between 2 and 24 hours before the start: the fee becomes a credit toward a future session. It is not lost, but it is not refunded either, because the court and the time slot have been paid for and can no longer be filled.
- Within the last 2 hours before the start: the session is charged in full. At that point there is no realistic chance of filling the slot or releasing the court.
- If a player does not turn up and we have not heard from you, the session is charged in full, as above. If there was a genuine reason — illness, an accident, something outside your control — tell us and we will look at it. A refund or a credit may be offered at the discretion of The Hoopers Academy.
- Credits are valid for 6 months from the date of the cancelled session.
- If we cancel — through illness, injury, a venue closing or anything else at our end — you choose: a full refund or a credit. The 24 hour rule does not apply to us.
4. Arriving late
Sessions run to their scheduled finish time. Arriving late shortens the session rather than extending it, because the court is booked for a fixed period and another group usually follows.
5. Academy groups and grading
- Academy groups run at the State Basketball Centre only.
- Groups are capped at 15 players.
- Grading is reassessed weekly, and a player may be moved between groups. All three groups cost the same, so moving between them does not change what you pay.
6. Health, injury and safety
- Basketball is a physical, contact sport. Training involves running, jumping, changes of direction and contact with other players, and carries a risk of injury.
- You must tell us before the session about any injury, medical condition, allergy or medication that could affect a player's participation, and tell us if it changes.
- Players take part at a level appropriate to their own fitness and ability. A player who is unwell or carrying an injury should not train.
- We hold a current Working With Children Check and are happy to show it to any parent who asks.
- If a player is injured during a session we will stop, attend to them, and contact the parent or guardian and emergency services as appropriate.
- Venues have their own first aid facilities and emergency procedures, and those apply on site.
7. Supervision, drop-off and pick-up
- We are responsible for a player from the start of the session until the scheduled finish time, on the court and in the immediate playing area.
- For players under 14, a parent or guardian must stay at the venue for the whole session.
- For players aged 14 and over, a parent or guardian may drop off and leave, but must be contactable by phone throughout and must collect the player promptly at the finish time.
- Sessions start early. Please arrive in time for the scheduled start rather than during it.
- If a player is not collected at the finish time we will stay with them and contact you. There is no charge for this — we will simply wait with them until you arrive.
8. Behaviour
We may end a session, without refund, if a player's behaviour puts themselves or others at risk, or if a parent or spectator behaves abusively toward players, coaches or venue staff. Venue rules apply at all times.
9. Photographs and video
- We photograph and film sessions, and we sometimes use that content on our website and social media.
- Where a player is identifiable, we ask for written consent from a parent or guardian first, and we keep a record of it.
- Consent is optional and separate from booking. You can book sessions and say no to photography. It makes no difference to the coaching.
- You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us. We will stop using new images and remove existing ones from our website and our own social media accounts.
- We ask that parents and spectators do not film or photograph other people's children without their permission.
10. Venues
Sessions run at hired facilities. Access, parking and spectator rules are set by each venue, not by us. If a venue closes or a court becomes unavailable we will offer an alternative time or venue; if neither suits you, section 3 applies and you choose a refund or a credit.
11. Privacy
How we handle personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version published on this website at the time of your booking is the one that applies to that booking.
